Summer Candles

Hey Guys!

Welcome back. Today I am continuing with my seasonal post series, with my Summer Candles. If you haven’t seen me do this before, essentially, every season I make a series of four posts about a specific topic (books, candles, nails and photography) in regards to the current season. I’m not very good at explaining this, but you get eh gist. Today it is time for my summer candles post. So, here are the scents and brands that I have been loving so far this summer.

You all know by now that I am a massive scented candle fan. I nearly always have something or other burning in my room. I just love it. There is always something so atmospheric about having a nice smelling room. I don’t know, I just love it. You also probably already know this, but I am a huge Yankee Candle fan. They are by far my favourite brand. I just find them the best. They smell amazing, burn beautifully, have such a wide range of scents, they are generally just brilliant. But over the last year or so I have been trying lots of different brands, and completely fallen in love with another one, that being Flamingo Candles. This brand is a UK based one, I believe that they are made in Wales. They are full soy wax candles and are amazing. They smell lovely, burn beautifully, look great. I love. Plus, they are cheaper then Yankee. A Flamingo jar is around £12 and you get about the same burn times as a medium Yankee jar, which is about £18. they are a really nice brand that you need to check out. But, I have waffled enough, lets get to the scents.

Yankee Candles

Sweet Apple

Summer Scoop

Cherry Lemonade

Sparkling Lemon

Flamingo Candles

Lemon & Lime Mojito

Everything that I have been burning so far this summer has been very fruity. I always love fruit based scents in the summer, but I am really really loving them at the moment. Generally speaking I haven’t been burning candles as much as normal recently, mainly because I just haven’t been spending enough time at home too, but when I have, these are what I have been reaching for. They just make everything feel that bit more summery, which is perfect if you live in England like me, where we have sunshine one day, and torrential rain the next.

I’m really sad that all but one (summer scoop) of my Yankee Fragrances have all now been retired. Which really sucks because they where some of my favourites. I stocked up on Sweet Apple before it went, but I’m starting to run low on it now. And Sparkling Lemon has been gone for a few years and I thought I had run out of it until my mum uncovered one that she had forgotten about and gave it to me, so I have been savouring that one. I really wish that they would bring it back. I mentioned in my last candles post that I am a bit pissed at Yankee at the moment, and that hasn’t changed. Which really makes me sad as they have always been my favourite. They just really need to sort themselves out a bit. I am just very underwhelmed by them at the moment.

As for Flamingo, I just love them. I have a lot of candles tucked away for autumn by them (I’m not a huge fan of their fruity scents) so I have only really been burning the one fragrance from them, but a few months ago I brought loads of their melts which I am slowly working my through. Some of which are Pina Colada, Gin & Tonic, Mojito, Pink Lemonade, Peaches and Cream and others. I kind of just went in store and grabbed one of basically every scent that I liked, I got a bit carried away. But it a really nice way of finding new scents that I like. They all smell really nice and burn beautifully, well, I have a electric tart warmer, so melt really well lol. I have slowly been burning my way through them and I love them.

And that is it. Those are the scents that I have been loving so far this summer. What have you been burning? I would love to know (I am noisy as hell). For anyone interested I buy all of my candles from Candle Scentral. They are a little independent store that stock Yankee Candles, Candleberry, Flamingo Candles and another couple of brands. They are the same price as buying direct from Yankee and so on but they are completely independent. They have a little shop in Sussex and have the friendliest, most helpful staff. Do check them out, they have website that you can order from and they offer free delivery with any order over £35. (http://www.candlescentral.co.uk/). I just think that if you are going to buy candles, might as well support a small business, not just the big companies. I will see you all again very soon.

  1. You know I’m much more beachy/fresh scent oriented but I’d love to try that Sparkling Lemon, you scored with that hidden gem! If you turn the candle over and read the small set of numbers on the label, to the side of the Barcode, the first two digits are a date code. At least on the US versions, I’m guessing that one could by an ’09?
I’m pushing myself to burn more of my candle stash, but it’s hard when you’re out more often and Yankee’s last forever!
