Books That I Am Excited For

Hey Guys!

Today I thought that it was about time that I did another ‘Books That I Am Excited For’ post. In case you don’t know what this post is, essentially it is where I talk about books that are due for release over the next few months that I am really excited for. Basically, it is a highly anticipated release’s post. Today’s post covers books that are being released between April 1st and June 30th. So, let’s do this!

The Eve Illusion by Tom and Giovanna Fletcher – April 16th

Eve is the last girl on earth.

For the last sixteen years, Eve has been a prisoner. Guarded by the Mothers. Trapped by her fate. Watched by the world.

Until she took her chance, and escaped.

Eve finally has the freedom she has wanted for so long, and with Bram she has the love. But both come at a price. In this dangerous new world beyond the Tower, the regime is only ever one step behind. And, together with the desperate rebel group fighting against them, Eve has found herself in more danger than she ever could have imagined.

With everything stacked against them, can Eve and Bram survive?

I can’t believe that this book is nearly here! I read the first book Eve Of Man as soon as it was released in 2018 and I have been eagerly awaiting the next book ever since. Originally, it was meant to come out last year but the authors had another baby so understandably, its release date got pushed back a year. But I am so happy that this book is almost here. This book is such a great concept and I really enjoyed the first book, although I did feel that it needed some work. I can’t wait to finally read this one!

These Witches Don’t Burn by Isabel Sterling – May 1st

Hannah’s a witch, but not the kind you’re thinking of. She’s the real deal, an Elemental with the power to control fire, earth, water, and air. But even though she lives in Salem, Massachusetts, her magic is a secret she has to keep to herself. If she’s ever caught using it in front of a Reg (read: non-witch), she could lose it. For good. So, Hannah spends most of her time avoiding her ex-girlfriend (and fellow Elemental Witch) Veronica, hanging out with her best friend, and working at the Fly by Night Cauldron selling candles and crystals to tourists, goths, and local Wiccans. But dealing with her ex is the least of Hannah’s concerns when a terrifying blood ritual interrupts the end-of-school-year bonfire. Evidence of dark magic begins to appear all over Salem, and Hannah’s sure it’s the work of a deadly Blood Witch. The issue is, her coven is less than convinced, forcing Hannah to team up with the last person she wants to see: Veronica. While the pair attempt to smoke out the Blood Witch at a house party, Hannah meets Morgan, a cute new ballerina in town. But trying to date amid a supernatural crisis is easier said than done, and Hannah will have to test the limits of her power if she’s going to save her coven and get the girl, especially when the attacks on Salem’s witches become deadlier by the day. Isabel Sterling’s delightful, suspenseful debut is equal parts sweet romance and thrilling mystery. With everything she loves on the line, Hannah must confront this murderous villain before her coven–and any chance she has with the new girl–is destroyed.

I have been itching to read this book ever since it first came out but I just haven’t. and now it is finally being released in paperback, so I truly have no excuse now. no one is talking about this book but it sounds so damn good! I really need to finally buy myself a copy and read it!

Aurora Burning by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff – May 5th

Our heroes are back. Kind of.

First, the bad news: An ancient evil – you know, your standard consume-all-life-in-the-galaxy deal – is about to be unleashed.

The good news? Squad 312 is standing by to save the day.

They’ve just got to take care of a few small distractions first.

Like the cadre of illegit GIA who’ll stop at nothing to get their hands on Auri.

Or Kal’s long-lost sister, who’s not exactly happy to see her baby brother, and has a Syldrathi army at her back.

With half the known galaxy on their tails, Squad 312 has never felt so wanted.

Shocking revelations, bank heists, mysterious gifts, inappropriately tight bodysuits and an epic firefight will determine the fate of the Aurora

Legion’s most unforgettable heroes.

And maybe the rest of the galaxy as well.

Shock horror, I haven’t actually read the first book yet, but it is on my TBR for this month. this series just sounds so good. and I loved the Illuminae Files by these two incredible authors, and Jay’s solo trilogy Nevernight (which I also haven’t finished yet). I just know that I am going to adore this series and that I will be glad that I don’t have to wait a year for the sequel

The Betrothed by Kiera Cass – May 14th

When King Jameson declares his love for Lady Hollis Brite, Hollis is thrilled. After all, she’s grown up at Keresken Castle, vying for the king’s attention alongside other daughters of the nobility. Capturing his heart is a dream come true.

And when she meets a commoner with the mysterious power to see right into her heart, she finds that the future she really wants is one that she never thought to imagine

How have I only just heard about this book!? I read The Selection a couple of years ago now, and while I didn’t love it, it was an enjoyable little series. particularly the first book. and I can see this book being very similar. I feel like this is going to be the perfect light, easy read. the sort of book to curl up in the sun with.

The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes by Suzanne Collins – May 19th

It is the morning of the reaping that will kick off the tenth annual Hunger Games. In the Capitol, eighteen-year-old Coriolanus Snow is preparing for his one shot at glory as a mentor in the Games. The once-mighty house of Snow has fallen on hard times, its fate hanging on the slender chance that Coriolanus will be able to outcharm, outwit, and outmaneuver his fellow students to mentor the winning tribute.

The odds are against him. He’s been given the humiliating assignment of mentoring the female tribute from District 12, the lowest of the low. Their fates are now completely intertwined — every choice Coriolanus makes could lead to favour or failure, triumph or ruin. Inside the arena, it will be a fight to the death. Outside the arena, Coriolanus starts to feel for his doomed tribute… and must weigh his need to follow the rules against his desire to survive no matter what it takes.

Do I need to explain it? I read The Hunger Games around the time that the Catching Fire film came out, although I never finished the trilogy. about 2 years ago I finally read the whole trilogy and really enjoyed it (with the exception of Mockingjay…..it wasn’t great) so I am so excited that we are getting to step back into that world and learn more about Snow.

By The Book by Amanda Sellet – June 1st

In this clever YA rom-com debut perfect for fans of Kasie West and Ashley Poston, a teen obsessed with nineteenth-century literature tries to cull advice on life and love from her favorite classic heroines to disastrous results–especially when she falls for the school’s resident Lothario. Mary Porter-Malcolm has prepared for high school in the one way she knows how: an extensive review of classic literature to help navigate the friendships, romantic liaisons, and overall drama she has come to expect from such an “esteemed” institution. When some new friends seem in danger of falling for the same tricks employed since the days of Austen and Tolstoy, Mary swoops in to create the Scoundrel Survival Guide, using archetypes of literature’s debonair bad boys to signal red flags. But despite her best efforts, she soon finds herself unable to listen to her own good advice and falling for a supposed cad–the same one she warned her friends away from. Without a convenient rain-swept moor to flee to, Mary is forced to admit that real life doesn’t follow the same rules as fiction and that if she wants a happy ending, she’s going to have to write it herself.

This book just sounds like it will be a really fun book to read. I hadn’t heard about it until a couple of weeks ago and I just think that it sounds good. I don’t read a whole lot of contemporary, but this sounds right up my street.

Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas – June 9th

Yadriel has summoned a ghost, and now he can’t get rid of him.

When his traditional Latinx family has problems accepting his true gender, Yadriel becomes determined to prove himself a real brujo. With the help of his cousin and best friend Maritza, he performs the ritual himself, and then sets out to find the ghost of his murdered cousin and set it free.

However, the ghost he summons is actually Julian Diaz, the school’s resident bad boy, and Julian is not about to go quietly into death. He’s determined to find out what happened and tie off some loose ends before he leaves. Left with no choice, Yadriel agrees to help Julian, so that they can both get what they want. But the longer Yadriel spends with Julian, the less he wants to let him leave.

I mean, this just sounds incredible! like truly incredible. if this book ends up being as good as it sounds like it will be, it is going to be huge! I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy of this one!

Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia – June 23rd

When glamorous socialite Noemí Taboada receives a frantic letter from her newly-wed cousin begging to be rescued from a mysterious doom, it’s clear something is desperately amiss. Catalina has always had a flair for the dramatic, but her claims that her husband is poisoning her and her visions of restless ghosts seem remarkable, even for her.

Noemí’s chic gowns and perfect lipstick are more suited to cocktail parties than amateur sleuthing, but she immediately heads to High Place, a remote mansion in the Mexican countryside, determined to discover what is so affecting her cousin.

Tough and smart, she possesses an indomitable will, and she is not afraid: not of her cousin’s new husband, who is both menacing and alluring; not of his father, the ancient patriarch who seems to be fascinated by Noemí; and not of the house itself, which begins to invade Noemi’s dreams with visions of blood and doom.

Her only ally in this inhospitable abode is the family’s youngest son. Shy and gentle, he seems to want to help, but might also be hiding dark knowledge of his family’s past. For there are many secrets behind the walls of High Place. The family’s once colossal wealth and faded mining empire kept them from prying eyes, but as Noemí digs deeper she unearths stories of violence and madness.

And Noemí, mesmerized by the terrifying yet seductive world of High Place, may soon find it impossible to leave this enigmatic house behind . . .

This book intrigues me. I don’t think that I have ever read anything like this book. it just sounds really interesting and like it is going to be one o those books that just draws you in.

And there we have it. those are all the books that I am excited for. what books are you highly anticipating? Any that you think I should check out? I hope that you have enjoyed today’s post and I will see you all again very soon

Stay safe
