My Top 5 Romances From Contemporary Books

Hey Guys!

It is valentine’s week! so this week it is all about love. I am doing a different posting schedule this week so that I can make an extra post for you (Monday, Wednesday and Friday instead of Tuesday and Thursday). Since I am forever single, I am celebrating the season with fluffy romance books. and that is exactly what I am talking about today. Today it is all about my top 5 contemporary romances. So, let’s do this!

Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

Need I explain this one? This book is amazing. It follows Simon, a gay teenager who has yet to come out. you follow him as he falls in love with his anonymous pen pal Blue, gets blackmailed and comes out. this is a brilliant book full of amazing characters. You can’t help but fall in love with this story. it is deep and meaningful with a lot of really important messages, but it is also really funny and honest and relatable. Everything in it feels so damn genuine. Becky Albertalli is fast becoming one of my all-time favorite authors.

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

If you are after a cute contemporary, then this is the series for you. I whizzed through these books, I could not put them down. It follows 17-year-old Lara Jean as a box of love letters that she has written over the years somehow get sent out. You watch as she tries to figure out what to do and falls in love with someone that she never expected too. This is just such a sweet story, I found myself smiling the whole time that I was reading it. it is the perfect trilogy, it just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

The Kissing Booth by Beth Reekles

This is the book that the Netflix film of the same name is based off, which should instantly give you an idea about it. Follow 16-year-old Elle as she accidentally starts to fall in love with her best friend, Lee’s, older brother Noah. Cue drama. This is such a sweet story. it is light and fluffy and will leave you smiling. It is the perfect book to curl up in the sun with and just have all the mushy feels. (also its companion Novella, The Beach House, is freaking adorable and is set over the summer. If you like the book, you need to read this as well)

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

This is one of my favorite contemporaries that I have read this year. It follows 18-year-old Cath, an avid fanfiction writer, as she navigates her way through her first year of college. this book is full of brilliant characters, amazing relationships and complex storylines. You cannot help but fall in love with the characters and the storyline. It is sweet and funny, but also sad and so relatable. This story was so much more complex then I was expecting and I ended up really enjoying it.

When We Collided by Emery Lord

This book is a stunning young adult contemporary. It follows two main characters, Jonah and Vivi as they spend their summer falling in love with each other. Vivi whirls into town, this vibrant, bundle of energy and turns Jonah’s life upside down. All is not as simple as it may seem though. Jonah is still grieving his father, dealing with his mother’s break down and trying to play parent to his three young siblings and Vivi has plenty of demons herself. This book is a lovely summer read. It is a beautiful story about love and loss, darkness and light. It is truly wonderful.

And there we have it. obviously, there are loads more incredible Contemporary romances out there, and I actually found it pretty hard to narrow down this list. but I am interested, what are your top 5 contemporary romances? Any that you think that I should check out? I hope that you have enjoyed today’s post and I will see you all again very soon.
