Book Review: The Truth Pixie by Matt Haig

Hey Guys!

Welcome to day 22 of Blogmas! I can’t believe how close we are to Christmas! December has flown by! Oh well, today it is time or another book review and today it is the turn of The Truth Pixie, so let’s do this!

Okay, so this book isn’t technically a Christmas book. it isn’t set at Christmas, it doesn’t feature Christmas, it has nothing to do with Christmas. expect, that it is a spin-off of a Christmas series and features a character from that Christmas series. so I am classing it as a Christmas book!

This book is more of an extended poem than an actual story and I wasn’t expecting that, but I really liked it. it made it feel like a classic tale. Like a fairytale or an old folktale. It was brilliant because of that. it had flow and rythme to itand was just really fun to read/listen to (I listened to this book on audio). I just felt like the method of telling the story was pure christmas. I don’t know why, but it just felt festive-y because of it. the rythming and the musical quality just gave the book a festive feel, at least in my opinon.

I also really liked the sentiment behind the story. it was a really lovely tale about acceptance and finding your place in the world. And also about how the truth can hurt and be hard to accept, but it is importnant and can lead to a happier life. I also loved the message that you need to experience sadness in your life to be able to know happiness. You cant have the good without the bad. I think Haig does a brilliant job and presenting these ideas to children in a way that they will understand. He always remind me of authorus like J K Rowling and Rick Riordan, in that sense. Taching life lessons through his stories. It is brilliant and much needed.

All in all, while this book isn’t technically a chrismtas book, it is the perfect book to read at this time of year. I really enjoyed reading it. if you haven’t read Haig’s christmas series you 100% should!
