Book Review: Christmas Lights by Various

Hey Guys!

Welcome to day 14! Can you believe that we are already 2 weeks into December?! I swear this month is just flying by! Today it is time for another festive book review, and today it is the turn f a poetry collection. So, without further ado, here is my review for Christmas Lights by Various!

Well, I am kind of disappointed. I have been itching to read this collection for ages. I have really gotten into poetry this year and the idea of Christmas themed poetry just made me so happy, and this collection just didn’t deliver.

My main issue with this collection is that most of the poems did not feel particularly festive, which was sort of the whole idea of it. I went into this collection expecting to experience the magic of Christmas, to leave with that warm feeling inside, and I didn’t. The poems where very un-festive and honestly, just not that great. I didn’t really feel anything towards any of the poems. Usually, I connect with at least one poem, but not today. They all just felt a little bit flat and underwhelming. I also ended up feeling a little short-changed as one of the ‘poems’ barley classed as a poem. It is a short story. and not even a festive-y short story, just a short story. There were maybe 2 poems that I did enjoy, even if they didn’t feel particularly festive.

And honestly, that is all that I have to say on this collection. It was a bit of a nothing book; I am 100% honest with you. I didn’t want much from it, just a bit of festivity and I didn’t get it.
