Book Review: Daughter Of Smoke And Bone by Laini Taylor

Hey Guys!

We are a Saturday all over again so that can only mean one thing, that it is time for another book review! this week it is the turn of a book that my sister has been nagging me to read for about 5 years. And that book is Daughter Of Smoke And Bone by Laini Taylor. So, let’s do this!

This is one of those books that I always knew that I would read eventually but that I wasn’t in any hurry to get too. but now that I have finally read it (after having my sister nag me continuously for literally years) I kind of wish that I read it sooner! I really enjoyed it!

I can see why so many people love this book. it is an utterly unique story, unlike anything that I have read before! It is such an interesting concept, and such a complex world. I loved it. this is one of those rare stories that truly keeps you guessing. I never really kept me on the edge of my seat. It was so jam packed full of mystery and intrigue, I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next.  it has been a long time since a book has hooked me like this one. I listened to it on audiobook (which I highly recommend as the audiobook is just fantastic) ad I honestly couldn’t stop listening to it. I was nearly late back to work from my lunch break twice because I just couldn’t stop listening. I just adored this story.

I loved this world. There is so much depth and complexity to it. it is one of the most well thought out worlds that I have read in a very long time. It is such a complex world. It is so rich with culture and magic. I loved that we got to visit so many different cultures, from modern day Prague to Eretz and we even get to see a glimpse of the Seaph’s home. I loved how unique each culture as. I want to visit Prague after reading this book. I also want to go to Eretz. I just love how much thought Laini Taylor put into this world. I loved reading about the people and festivals and their war. There is still so much to learn about their story, and I can’t wait until I read more about theorem and their world.

But what I loved most about this book was its characters. Particularly Karu. I honestly didn’t expect to like her, but I really, really did. She Is just a straight up fantastic character. She is sassy and tough, but also artistic and loving and o incredibly brave. She is such a well-rounded character, and I am really loving reading her story. she has so much potential as a character, and I honestly cannot wait to keep reading her story. And she isn’t the only character that I liked. I also really liked Akiva. There is so much to his character and we are only just starting to scratch the surface of it. there is so much that we don’t know about him, and I am really hoping that we are going to be able to explore more of him in the rest of the trilogy. in fact, if I am completely honest, I didn’t dislike any character. Everyone really intrigued me. I can’t wait to learn more about them all.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I now understand why my sister wanted me to read it so badly. I honestly can’t see myself waiting long to read the next book

star 4.54.5 out of 5
