Summer Reads

Hey Guys!

Summer is coming to an end so that can only mean one thing, it is time for a seasonal reads post. In case you don’t know what this is, essentially at the end of each season I make a post talking all about the books that I have read and loved throughout that season. essentially, it is like a cross between a seasonal wrap up post and a recommendation one. I hope that that makes sense. So, without further ado, here are all the books that I have loved this summer. Let’s do this!

The Song Of Achilles by Madeline Miller

It is like grown up Percy Jackson, what’s not to love?!? this story follows a young Greek boy, named Patroclus from the age of 11 right through to his teen years and into adulthood. It is a story all about friendship, self-discovery and unconditional love. it has become an instant favourite. It is an incredible story and it is so beautifully written. I loved every single second of it. I you want a fantastic book to completely lose yourself in, then this is the book for you!

Stuff I’ve Been Feeling Lately by Alicia Cook

This may be my favourite poetry collection that I have read to date. It is absolutely fantastic. This collection will make you feel all the feels. It will move you. it will make you sit back and think ‘that’s me’. It is a stunning collection that is beautifully written. This is a collection that everyone should read!

Runemarks by Joanne M Harris

If you have any interest in Norse Mythology, then you should 100% read this book. it breathes new life into the old stories that we all know and love. it puts a brilliant new twist on the tales while also keeping true to the original stories. It is a truly fantastic book and s the perfect book for summer. You will be completely absorbed in it.

The Near Witch by V E Schwab

Follow teenager Lexi as she tried to unravel the mysteries surrounding her village. With drama, mystery, love and magic, this book will pull you in and completely immerse you. while this isn’t my favourite book by Schwab, it is still a great book and is well worth a read.

Casino Royale by Ian Fleming

This is one of those books that I put off reading for a long time as I thought that I wouldn’t enjoy it. boy was I wrong. I read this book in just one sitting, it is brilliant. I can 100% see why Bond has stood the test of time. If you haven’t read Casino Royale yet, then you 100% should

The Sun And Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur

This is a great poetry collection. Not as good as Kaur’s first book, but still excellent. If you are new to poetry, then I would highly recommend this collection. It is moving and thought provoking while also being very easy to read. it is beautifully written and will make you fall in love with poetry. It is the perfect collection to lose yourself in while sitting in the sun!

Wilde Women by Louise Pentland

I don’t usually include sequels in these posts but I couldn’t not include this one. this series is the definition of a summer read. this trilogy follows single mom, Robin Wilde, through the ups and downs of motherhood, relationships and day to day life. this series is light and funny but also tackles some big topics such as miscarriage. I read each of these books in under 24 hours. They are the perfect, easy book to just curl up with in the sun. and this final instalment was just the perfect way to wrap up Robin’s story. if you haven’t read this trilogy yet, then you really should!

And there we have it. Those are my favourite reads from this summer. All of these books are just amazing and are perfect for summer. What books have you enjoyed over the last couple of months? I hope that you have enjoyed todays post and I will see you all again very soon
