Its book review time. Sorry that this was a bit late going up. it’s been a really manic week. but it’s up now! so, without further ado, here is my review for Crown Of Midnight by Sarah J Maas!
Do you ever pick up a book series and wonder why it has taken you so long to read it? because that is definitely what has happened to me with this series. I honestly don’t know why I waited so long to read it. it is just so good! well worth all the hype!
I wasn’t sure how I felt about this book until I was really far into it. while I was enjoying it from the start I wasn’t sure that I lived up to its predecessor. That is until I was about three quarters of the way through it. and then shit hit the fan! I couldn’t put it down! So much happened in the last part of this book! it was unreal! There where so many revelations and shocking events we were barely given time to get our heads around one reveal and then something else would happen. it was crazy. It was so fast paced, I loved it. I was constantly being taken by surprise by this story. this whole series is just so intense. I can 100% see why so many people are so obsessed with it.
I will however admit that while I really enjoyed the general storylines I didn’t always love the characters throughout this book. I found myself feeling like Celina’s character stalled a bit in this book. I felt like she didn’t really show any character development until right at the end of the story. in fact, for most of the book I found her pretty irritating. I don’t know what exactly it was about her that irritated me so much, but there was just something. She really bugged me, especially at the start of this book. I felt a little like she actually regressed a little bit in this book, particularly in the beginning. I felt like she had kind of lost everything that I loved about her in the first book. she wasn’t as fierce or as tough, she wasn’t as strong or as independent as before. And that really sucked. Luckily she did manage to regain some of herself towards the end of the book, but she has definitely lost some of herself along the way. I was also a little bit disappointed by how little we got to see of Dorian. He has so much potential, especially with all the revelations about him that came to light in this book. I am just really hoping that we get to see more of his story in the next book!
Overall, while there were elements of this book that I disliked, there were more than I did enjoy. In general, I did enjoy the story and I am excited to see where it goes next. I can’t see myself waiting long to pick up the next book.
