Another week has been and gone and that means that it is time for another book review! this time it is the turn of another one of my mostly highly anticipated releases of the year and the conclusion of a trilogy that I have been following since its start. That book is, of course, Finale by Stephanie Garber. Let’s do this!
Io have some very mixed feelings about this book. on one hand I am pretty sad that this trilogy is ending, although I am happy with how the story has wrapped up, but on the other hand this wasn’t my favourite book in the trilogy. like I said, very mixed feelings. Some good. some bad
Please don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy this book, just not as much as I did the previous books. I’m not even 100% sure what it was about this book that I didn’t love, but there was just something about it that just didn’t quiet click with me. While good, this book just didn’t quiet live up to its predecessors. The first book in particular was just so fantastic that the rest of the trilogy was never going to reach the same level. I think for me, Finale just felt a like a little bit of a let-down in some ways. It just didn’t feel quiet as magical as the previous books. and it felt a little like it was trying to fit too much in at times. It meant that some of the storylines were left feeling a little bit rushed and underdeveloped. I was left wanting more, which sucked. I think some of my disappointment with this book stemmed from my own expectations of it. going into it I had such high hopes and expectations for it that it was never going to live up to them. I just wanted so much from this book.
But, besides it not quiet meeting my expectations, I did still enjoy it, just not as much as I hoped that I would. It was a good conclusion to the series. it wrapped up the story really well. through the book it perfectly tied together the loose ends and brought all of the storyline together. I do still feel like I have a few unanswered questions, but for the most part I am satisfied with how this book wrapped up the trilogy. I really liked the direction that the story took. I loved that with each book this series has gotten darker and darker, and more and more complex. It is such an interesting world. I really hope that we haven’t seen the last of it.
I think what I have enjoyed most throughout this whole trilogy is watching the characters grow. They have all developed so much since the first time that we met them, and it has been brilliant to witness. I’ve loved watching the sisters grow into who they are meant to be and learn to let others in. they have both changed so much since that first time we met them. they have matured so much. scarlet has let go of her fear and embraced her destiny and power, while Tella has opened her heart and allowed herself to love. neither of them are still the same girls that we met so long ago. And they aren’t the only ones who have grown as characters. Julian and Legend have as well. in fact, Legend is almost unrecognisable.
while this book wasn’t my favourite of the trilogy, I still enjoyed it. a lot. I’m sad to be closing the door on this trilogy, this world, these characters. but I am content with how their story has ended

And there we have it. that is what I thought about Finale. Sorry if this is a bit ramble-ly and nostalgic, it is currently 3 am as I write it and I am very tired. Have you read Finale yet? what did you think about it? I hope that you have enjoyed todays post and I will see you all again very soon.
