Book Review: Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

Hey Guys!

It’s Saturday and you know what that means, it’s book review time! Whoop, whoop! today I am finally continuing with the Lunar Chronicles. Let’s do this!

Wow, I loved this book! It was brilliant. Why did I wait so long to read it?!? This is one of the best sequels that I think that I have ever read!

This book was just so good. It expertly continued the storyline from the first book while also starting new storylines and introducing new elements. So often with the second book in a series it feels like a let-down. It doesn’t measure up to the first book and it can feel stale and underdeveloped. This book didn’t. at all. It felt fresh and new. It was just well done. I loved the direction that the storyline took, particularly seeing the story from other perspectives and seeing how each character reacted to each situation and development. I just loved it. the story really drew me in. to the extent that I read the whole thing in just 2 days. I could not put it down.

I think one of the things that I liked most about this book was how much it expanded the world. We know so much more about this universe now. Where the first book was very much just focused on Cinder, this book really developed the rest of the world. It introduced us to new locations, new technologies, new elements of life. And it also really expanded on our knowledge of Lunar. I found it so interesting watching this world develop around us. It was incredibly well done and really kept me hooked to story. I couldn’t wait to see how the world was going to grow next.

I also loved the characters. I already knew that I liked Cinder, although this really made her grow on me more. but I also ended up adoring some of the new characters that we were introduced to. For instance, I really liked Scarlet. Admittedly, she did annoy me a bit at times (with her whining about her grandmother. And she was a little bit naive at times) but overall I really liked her. I loved that she went after what she wanted. That she wasn’t afraid to stand up for herself. She was willing to pull the trigger. I do love a good, strong, female lead. I also really liked Wolf. I am very intrigued by his character and I am really curious to see where he goes next. He is such a complex character and I don’t think that we have seen all of him yet. But on the flip side, I also loved Throne. He is a complete idiot and I want to keep him.

All in all, I really, really, enjoyed this book. I am honestly so excited to continue reading this series. it is fast becoming one of my all-time favourites.

star 4.54.5 out of 5

And there we have it. Have you read the Lunar Chronicles? What did you think about it? I hope that you have enjoyed todays post and I will see you all again very soon
