Highly Anticipated Books That I Didn’t Enjoy

Hey guys

Today I want to talk about some highly anticipated books that I ended up being really disappointed in. This is always a risk with highly anticipated books. Sometimes you love them, sometimes they don’t live up to your hopes and expectations. So today I thought I’d share with you a few of my highly anticipated books that i ended up not really enjoying. Let’s do this!

Artemis by Andy Weir

A few years ago I read the Martian by Weir and loved it. It’s fantastic book and became an instant favourite. So when I found out that Weir was finally releasing enough book I was so excited. I couldn’t wait to read it. When I finally did read it, I kind of hated it. I found it dull and predictable, not mention incredibly tedious. I cannot stand the characters and felt like the whole thing was just trying too hard. Everything but I loved about the Martian was missing in this book. It was my biggest disappointment of 2018

The Steel Prince by V E Schwab

If you know me at all you will know that the A Darker Shade Of Magic Trilogy by V E Schwab is one my all-time favourite series. So naturally I was unbelievably excited to learn that we were getting a prequel in comic form. But I have to admit that I was actually disappointed by it. it wasn’t bad and I didn’t hate it, but it wasn’t what I was hoping for. It just that bit short and underdeveloped, and also a bit rushed. Hopefully rest of the comics will better, but so far, I’m not really a fan

The Gentleman’s Guide To Vice And Virtue by Mackenzie Lee

I have been highly anticipating this book ever since I first heard about it back in 2017. Everyone speaks so highly of it; I just knew that I had to read it. But now that I finally have read it, part of me wishes that I hadn’t bothered. It’s not that it is bad, more that it isn’t as good as everyone says it is, at least in my opinion. I just found it predictable and frankly a bit boring. While there were some elements of the story that i enjoyed, for me they didn’t outweigh the parts I didn’t

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

I hated this book! it was one of those books that I was really excited for. I had heard so many good things about it and although it was an older book, I was really highly anticipating reading it. I couldn’t wait to pick it up. but when I did read it a few months ago I freaking hated it. I couldn’t even finish it. it was excruciatingly boring, the characters where unbelievably self centred, egotistical, dull and frankly boring. I hated it. I really hated it. I was so disappointed by it

How To Stop Time by Matt Haig

I was so excited for this book. I learnt about it as it just came out and thought that it sounded brilliant. I couldn’t wait to read it but it was a massive let down. This book completely lacked story. it felt like it was all backstory and no actual story. It just felt as if nothing happened in this book. it could have been brilliant, but it really wasn’t. it has actually put me off Matt Haig as an author!

Shoot to Kill by Steve Cole

I read first five books in the Young Bond series pretty much back to back. I really enjoyed them. Yes, they’re a bit farfetched, but they were fun and very enjoyable. And then I made a mistake of reading the sixth book. If you don’t know, Charlie Higson wrote the first five books and then Steve Cole took over and started writing them, and now they’re kind of s***. I couldn’t even make it all the way through Shoot to Kill. It was incredibly dull and unbelievably boring. I was so excited for this series to continue and ii ended up wishing that it hadn’t. I wish I never bothered picking up this book

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

This book exploded onto my radar around the time that the film adaptation was announced. Everyone was talking about how incredible it was. it made me so excited to read it, but when I finally did get to it I was kind of disappointed. It wasn’t ad, but it wasn’t great either. Definitely not worth all its hype. I just didn’t enjoy it. I didn’t even know exactly what it was that I disliked. All I know is that I didn’t love it.

And there we have it. those are a few highly anticipated books that I ended up not enjoying. Do this every happen to you? what was a highly anticipated book that you ended up not liking? I hope that you have enjoyed todays post and I will see you all again very soon.
