Book Review: Throne Of Glass by Sarah J Maas

Hey Guys!

Once again it is time for another book review. this week it is the turn of a title that has been sitting on my shelf for nearly 4 years now and that book is Throne Of Glass by Sarah J Maas. So, let’s do this!

Well, I can definitely see why so many people are obsessed with this series! I know I am really intrigued to see where it is going to go!

I will be honest and say that while I am very intrigued by this story and did enjoy this book, I didn’t love it. I definitely felt like I needed more world building. It does read like a debut. Maybe if I had read this before any of Maas’ other books I might not feel this way, but I really did feel like Throne Of Glass needed a bit more work. It was just a little bit lacking at times. I felt a bit like I was just thrown into this world and expected to know it. for me, there was just a distinct lack of world building in this story, which was disappointing. Had the world building been a bit better and some things explored a bit more thoroughly this could have easily been a 5-star book!

But what was there was brilliant. this was such a brilliant start to a series! it has left it open to so many possibilities. I will say that the storyline in this book wasn’t quite what I was expecting, but I really enjoyed it. It drew me in straight away and kept me on my toes the whole way through. Some things where pretty obvious, for instance the ultimate outcome, the potential love triangle and so on. But the general direction that the story took and the magical elements were both very unique and I don’t think that I have ever read anything quite like it.

I was also surprised by how much I liked the characters in this book. Even though they did feel underdeveloped at times, all of the characters where very easy to connect with. I wouldn’t say that I connected with them as easily as did the characters in A Court Of Thorns And Roses, but I did still connect with them. I truly care about what happened to Celaena, which doesn’t always happen with me and main characters.

I am really interested to see where this series is going to go and how the characters are going to evolve. I am excited to see the world grow and expand and become something incredible. I will 100% going to be continuing with this series!
