Welcome to day 8 of Blogmas! Whoop, whoop! Today it is time for another festive books review and this time it is for a book that I wanted to read last December but never got around to picking up a cop off and that is Pride And Prejudice And Mistletoe by Melissa De La Cruz. Let’s do this!
Well that was a bit disappointing. I don’t know what I was expecting, but this wasn’t it. I can definitely see why this book has such mixed reviews and why so many people dislike it. I don’t think that I particularly liked it.
I just found this book to be unpleasant. There was so much petty drama in it that was completely unnecessary. Every storyline made me want to slap someone. It just wasn’t a particularly good book. it was cute enough and the romance in it was sweet at times, although I was disappointed by how little it actually featured in this book. I just couldn’t stand the storylines. There was just a lot of forced drama for the sake of drama. And a lot of very unrealistic and unlikable events throughout this book. which was such a shame because I liked the general writing style of it and found that some moments left me smiling. There were a lot of pop culture references that I really liked although considering the amount of time specific things mentioned in this book I think that in a few years’ people won’t have any idea what it is going on about. I just found the main storyline and all of the smaller ones to be un-original and incredibly irritating.
I also could not stand the characters. I found them all to be incredibly unlikable. I found the main character Darcy to be unbelievable self-centred and self-absorbed. There was a whole section towards the end of this book with her basically defending herself, with the author trying to make a big thing of ‘judging people you don’t know’ and so on. but in reality, Darcy is selfish and self-centred, she is entitled and frankly, heartless at times. Her treatment of some of the other characters is awful. Truly awful! There where so many times when reading this book that I just wanted to slap her. And a lot of the other characters weren’t much better. I found Luke to be judgemental, Carl to be possessive and Bingley to just be plain irritating.
All in all, I was pretty disappointed by this book. it could have been a brilliant little Christmas book, but it ended up falling on its face. And it wasn’t even particularly festive!

And there we go. I don’t seem to be having the greatest luck with my Christmas reading so far this year. Oh well. have you read Pride And Prejudice And Mistletoe? What did you think about it? I hope that you have enjoyed todays post and I will see you all again tomorrow.
