Summer Reads

Hey Guys!

If you have followed me for a while, then you will know that each season I make a seasonal reads post. This is where I talk about the best books that I have read during that season. And, when possible, books et during that season. Well today it is time for my summer reads post, so without further ado, here are the books that I have been loving recently.

Side note: I don’t include rereads in theses posts and I try not to include sequels

The Kissing Booth by Beth Reekles

This is the book that the Netflix film of the same name is based off, which should instantly give you an idea about it. Follow 16-year-old Elle as she accidently starts to fall in love with her best friend, Lee’s, older brother Noah. Cue drama. This is such a sweet story. it is light and fluffy and will leave you smiling. It is the perfect book to curl up in the sun with and just have all the mushy feels. (also it’s companion Novella, The Beach House, is freaking adorable and is set over the summer. If you like the book, you need to read this as well)

The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan

You can’t have summer without Riordan. The Hidden Oracle is the first book in a trilogy based around the God Apollo. The story follows Apollo as he finds himself mortal and 15 years old again, as a punishment from Zeus. This is a brilliant opening to a trilogy. it is funny and witty and everything that you expect from a Riordan book but it is also a bit darker than previous books in the world. And it contains a lot more personal development. If you are looking for your next Riordan book, this is the one you need to pick up.

Love And Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch

Set over the course of a few weeks, this book follows teenager, Lina, as she ventures to Italy to get to know her biological father after her mother’s death. This book is so much more then I was expecting. It is a book about finding yourself, falling in love and healing. I read this book in practically one sitting, I just could not put it down. It is sweet, funny and cute but also hard and heart-breaking. It is the perfect summer read.

When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon

Cute, nerdy, romance story? yes please! When Dimple Met Rishi is a really sweet story about two Indian teenagers who are arranged to be married meeting and unexpectedly falling in love. set over a summer this book is prefect for this time of year. It is really sweet and funny with really incredible characters and a lot of nerdy references. I listened to the audiobook for it and loved every second of it. it is well worth a read.

Eve Of Man by Tom And Giovanna Fletcher

What would happen to the world if no girls were born for 50 years? Read this book and you will find out. Eve Of Man is the first book in a new dystopian trilogy centred around a world with a shortage of girls. This book is brilliant. the world feels very real and relatable, the characters feel genuine and the story is utterly unique. I loved this book and it is perfect for summer. You won’t want to put it down!

Open Road Summer by Emery Lord

This is the most perfect, predictable, unoriginal summer read, and I love it. when you think of a summer book you are probably thinking about this one. this book follows two teenage girls, best friends, over the one summer and the whole of the US. Dee is a up and coming singer on tour and Raegan is her best friend and is along for the ride. This book is full of friendship and love, music and healing and summer. It is the perfect book for this time of year. It will just leave you happy.

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

Gay Harry Potter? Yep! Do I need to say anything else? Lol. Carry On is basically gay Potter fanfiction with Harry dating Draco. It is brilliant! I read this whole book in one day. it is sweet and funny and very English. It is also more original then I was expecting. You need to read this book!

Shut Out by Kody Keplinger

If you like romance and girl power, this is the book for you. It follows a group of high school girls who are fed up with their boyfriends expecting sex all the time, so they go on strike! This book really took me by surprise. It is funny and smart, with a cute romances and deep messages of girls taking control of their own bodies. I ended up reading this book in one sitting and loved it!

And there we have it. those are all of my summer reads! What books have you loved this summer? Any that I should add to my TBR? I hope that you have enjoyed todays post and I will see you all again very soon.
