Every few months I make a post talking about all the upcoming book releases over the next three months that I am excited for. Basically a highly anticipated releases post. Well, today it is time for another one. I swear, there are so many incredible books coming out over the next couple of months that I want to badly. I am so excited! So let’s dot this! (these are all releases between 1st of April and 30th of June)
Sam and Ilsa’s Last Hurrah by Rachel Cohn And David Leviathan – 5th April 2018
Sam and Ilsa Kehlmann have spent most of their high school years throwing dinner parties, and now they’ve prepared their final blowout, just before graduation. The rules for the twins are simple: they each get to invite three guests, and the other twin doesn’t know who’s coming until the guests show up at the door. With Sam and Ilsa, the sibling revelry is always tempered with a large dose of sibling rivalry, and tonight is no exception.
One night. One apartment. Eight people. What could possibly go wrong? Oh, we all know the answer is plenty. But plenty also goes right – in rather surprising ways.
I have read all three books that this duo has co-written so far and enjoyed every single one of them. they are just nice, usually quirky, stories that you can’t help but love. I had no idea this one was coming out until recently and I am now really excited to read it.
A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J Maas – 1st May 2018
A companion tale to Sarah J. Maas’s #1 New York Times bestselling A Court of Thorns and Rosesseries that takes place several months after the explosive events of A Court of Wings and Ruin
Narrated by Feyre and Rhysand, this story bridges the events in A Court of Wings and Ruin and the upcoming novels in the series.
Feyre, Rhys and their companions are still busy rebuilding the Night Court and the vastly changed world beyond. But Winter Solstice is finally near, and with it a hard-earned reprieve. Yet even the festive atmosphere can’t keep the shadows of the past from looming. As Feyre navigates her first Winter Solstice as High Lady, she finds that those dearest to her have more wounds than she anticipated – scars that will have a far-reaching impact on the future of their court.
I cannot wait for this one! I read the all of the Court Of Thorns And Roses series last year and freaking loved it. it instantly became one of my all-time favourites! And I need more! I can’t wait to have this in my hands!
The Smoke Thieves by Sally Green – 3rd May 2018
A princess, a traitor, a soldier, a hunter and a thief. Five teenagers with the fate of the world in their hands. Five nations destined for conflict.
In Brigant, Princess Catherine prepares for a political marriage arranged by her brutal and ambitious father, while her true love, Ambrose, faces the executioner’s block. In Calidor, downtrodden servant March seeks revenge on the prince who betrayed his people. In Pitoria, feckless Edyon steals cheap baubles for cheaper thrills as he drifts from town to town. And in the barren northern territories, thirteen-year-old Tash is running for her life as she plays bait for the gruff demon hunter Gravell.
As alliances shift and shatter, and old certainties are overturned, our five heroes find their past lives transformed and their futures inextricably linked by the unpredictable tides of magic and war. Who will rise and who will fall? And who will claim the ultimate prize?
This is the latest book by the author of the Half Bad trilogy, which is a series that I love. I am a little bit nervous that I won’t love this one as much as I do Half Bad, but I am really excited to have something new by Green. (Also, I GOT AN ARC OF IT! I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED!!!!)
Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli – 3rd May 2018
In this sequel to the acclaimed Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda-soon to be a major motion picture, Love, Simon-we follow Simon’s BFF Leah as she grapples with changing friendships, first love, and senior year angst.
When it comes to drumming, Leah Burke is usually on beat – but real life isn’t always so rhythmic. An anomaly in her friend group, she’s the only child of a young, single mum, and her life is decidedly less privileged. And even though her mom knows she’s bisexual, she hasn’t mustered the courage to tell her friends – not even her openly gay BFF, Simon.
So Leah really doesn’t know what to do when her rock-solid friend group starts to fracture in unexpected ways. With prom and college on the horizon, tensions are running high. It’s hard for Leah to strike the right note while the people she loves are fighting-especially when she realizes she might love one of them more than she ever intended.
I read Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda in January and I loved it. it was amazing and brilliant and just, so damn good. I am so glad that it is now getting a sequel. I just really hope that it is as good as Simon.
War Storm by Victoria Aveyard – 15th May 2018
VICTORY COMES AT A PRICE.
Mare Barrow learned this all too well when Cal’s betrayal nearly destroyed her. Now determined to protect her heart–and secure freedom for Reds and newbloods like her–Mare resolves to overthrow the kingdom of Norta once and for all . . . starting with the crown on Maven’s head.
But no battle is won alone, and before the Reds may rise as one, Mare must side with the boy who broke her heart in order to defeat the boy who almost broke her. Cal’s powerful Silver allies, alongside Mare and the Scarlet Guard, prove a formidable force. But Maven is driven by an obsession so deep, he will stop at nothing to have Mare as his own again, even if it means demolish everything–and everyone–in his path.
War is coming, and all Mare has fought for hangs in the balance. Will victory be enough to topple the Silver kingdoms? Or will the little lightning girl be forever silenced?
In the epic conclusion to Victoria Aveyard’s stunning series, Mare must embrace her fate and summon all her power . . . for all will be tested, but not all will survive.
This is the fourth and final book in the Red Queen series. Personally, I have mixed feelings on this series as a whole. I liked the first book enough, hated the second and really enjoyed the third, so I honestly have no idea if I am going to like this one of not, but, I am ready to finish this series.
Charmcaster by Sebastien De Castell – 17th May 2018
Kellen, Reichis and Ferius are on their way to Gitabria, a city where amazing inventions are dreamed up and sold across the land of the Seven Sands.
But when the three of them stumble across a tiny mechanical bird, magically brought to life, they quickly realise all is not as it appears.
Meanwhile two strange Argosi appear, carrying secrets from Ferius’ past, together with an unlikely Jan’Tep ally.
And as time ticks on, all the cards in Ferius’ deck point to the emerging tides of war . . .
This is the third book in the Spellslinger series, which is a seriously underrated series that more people need to talk about. I recently read the second book and loved it nearly as much as I had the first, so I have high hopes for this one.
Legendary by Stephanie Garber – 29TH May 2018
After being swept up in the magical world of Caraval, Donatella Dragna has finally escaped her father and saved her sister Scarlett from a disastrous arranged marriage. The girls should be celebrating, but Tella isn’t yet free. The only chance of uncovering Legend’s identity is to win Caraval, so Tella throws herself into the legendary competition once more – and into the path of the murderous heir to the throne, a doomed love story, and a web of secrets . . . including her sister’s. Caraval has always demanded bravery, cunning, and sacrifice. But now the game is asking for more. If Tella can’t fulfill her bargain and deliver Legend’s name, she’ll lose everything she cares about – maybe even her life. But if she wins, Legend and Caraval will be destroyed forever.
Welcome, welcome to Caraval . . . the games have only just begun.
This is the sequel to one of my favourite reads from last year, Caraval. I have been itching for this ever since I finished the first book. I cannot wait! I am so excited! I love this world and story. I need it now!
Eve Of Man by Giovanna and Tom Fletcher – 31st May 2018
AGAINST ALL ODDS, SHE SURVIVED.
THE FIRST GIRL BORN IN FIFTY YEARS.
THEY CALLED HER EVE . . .
Described by Giovanna and Tom as an unconventional love story set in a dystopian future, Eve of Man is the tale of what happens when you turn sixteen and realise you’re the most important person in the world.
Do you embrace your fate – or do you run from it?
This is an unexpected entry to this list. I have read books by both of this duo in the last year, and enjoyed them both, but this is their first joint work and it sounds so very different from anything either of them has written before and I am intrigued. I am just very curious about this book.
On The Come Up by Angie Thomas – 7th June 208
The highly anticipated second novel from Angie Thomas, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Hate U Give, returns to the world of Garden Heights in a story about an aspiring teen rapper and what happens when you get everything you thought you wanted.
We know very little about this book at the moment. All we do know is that it is a companion of sorts to The Hate U Give. And that is all I need to know. I need this book.
Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian – 14th June 2018
Theodosia was six when her country was invaded and her mother, the Queen of Flame and Fury, was murdered before her eyes. Ten years later, Theo has learned to survive under the relentless abuse of the Kaiser and his court as the ridiculed Ash Princess.
When the Kaiser forces her to execute her last hope of rescue, Theo can’t ignore her feelings and memories any longer. She vows revenge, throwing herself into a plot to seduce and murder the Kaiser’s warrior son with the help of a group of magically gifted and volatile rebels. But Theo doesn’t expect to develop feelings for the Prinz.
Forced to make impossible choices and unable to trust even those who are on her side, Theo will have to decide how far she’s willing to go to save her people and how much of herself she’s willing to sacrifice to become Queen.
I have heard a fair bit about this one and it has me intrigued. I am really curious about it. it feels a bit like a cross between Red Queen and the Sin Eaters Daughter. But I will defo be picking it up once it is released.
Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff – 28th June 2018
A ruthless young assassin continues her journey for revenge in this new epic fantasy from New York Times bestselling author Jay Kristoff.
Conquer your fear, conquer the world
Mia Corvere, destroyer of empires, has found her place among the Blades of Our Lady of Blessed Murder, but many in the Red Church ministry do not believe she has earned it.
Her position is precarious, and she’s still no closer to exacting revenge for the brutal death of her family. But after a deadly confrontation with an old enemy, Mia begins to suspect the motives of the Red Church itself.
When it is announced that Consul Scaeva and Cardinal Duomo will be making a rare public appearance at the conclusion of the grand games in Godsgrave, Mia defies the Church and sells herself into slavery for a chance to fulfill the promise she made on the day she lost everything.
Upon the sands of the arena, Mia finds new allies, bitter rivals, and more questions about her strange affinity for the shadows. But as conspiracies unfold, secrets are revealed and the body count rises within the collegium walls, Mia will be forced to choose between her loyalties and her revenge.
This is the sequel to Nevernight, which I read at the start of the year and loved, and it is finally coming out in paperback in June. I cannot wait to read this book. The first one was so damn good, I am so excited.
And there we go. There are so many other amazing sounding books coming out in the next few months, but these are the ones that I am personally, really excited for. What upcoming releases are you excited for? Any that I should check out? I hope that you have enjoyed todays post and I will see you all again soon.
