Book Review: Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda y Becky Albertalli

Hey Guys!

Its book review time! And I am so excited about today’s book. Today’s author is fast becoming one of my all-time favourites. Yep, I have finally picked up Becky Albertalli’s first book, Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda. Let’s do this!

I really freaking loved this book! It was just so good. I am honestly in love with Becky Albertalli’s writing style. It is light and fun but also full of really deep subjects and complex characters and, they are just amazing. Some of the best contemporaries that I have ever read!

This was such an unusual concept for a storyline but it worked so well. I love that we got to see the relationship between Simon and Blue unfold. I love that we actually got to read some of their emails and really get a feel for them. I don’t think that I have ever found myself rooting for a couple when I don’t even know who one of them was before! But this storyline had the power to do it. I really enjoyed it. I loved trying to figure out Blue alongside Simon and also trying to figure out what was going on with the other characters. I also actually liked the blackmail storyline as it really made me think. What would I do if someone was blackmailing me?

I also loved the characters in this book. Simon is brilliant. he is just so normal and relatable. You can 100% picture yourself in his shoes. I just loved his perspective. He was sweet and funny but also insecure and uncertain and just so damn brilliant. I really loved reading this book from his point of view. I did also really like a lot of the secondary characters. I loved Abby and Nick and Leah, I also really liked Nora and Alice and basically everyone. I especially liked the dynamic of the main fours friendship group. It just felt so incredibly genuine and real.

Overall I really really loved this book. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me feel all the feels. I just adored it. I really do love Becky Albertalli’s writing and I can’t wait to read more of her work
