Happy Saturday! It is time for another book review! this week it isn’t actually for a book that I have just finished. I have had a incredibly busy week at work and so I haven’t really had any time to read. I have only managed about half a book and that was all yesterday. So I have no review. but, I didn’t want to not post anything, especially as I haven’t missed a book review for 2 years now, so I thought that instead I would post a review for a book that I read a couple of years ago now. In fact, this is the first review that I ever wrote but I never posted it. so, I am finally posting it. so, here is a little throwback review for you. This is my review for Lost Girl by Colleen Vanderlinden. Lets do this.
Lost Girl follows Molly as she uncovers who she really is. We watch as her powers develop and as she finally realizes that she is not alone. I like the premise of this book and I love Molly’s character and attitude but, I feel like the book is very rushed. This is especially apparent with Molly and Nain’s relationship. I think that they make an amazing pairing, but, I just couldn’t appreciate them together as it just felt as if Vanderlinden was trying to just get them together as quickly as possible. And then once they were together it wasn’t slowed down. Everything happened at a dizzying pace. I get that the whole story holds the theme of time running out, but I feel that it was over rushed.
Although, saying that, I will be reading the next installment and possibly the whole series. It can be very rare to find a supernatural biased story with a female lead that doesn’t depict her as needing rescuing. A damsel in distress. And this was one. It was also nice that Molly’s relationship with Nain wasn’t the complete focus of the book. Molly was. She is an incredible character. She is incredibly brave and strong, reckless and caring, just brilliant. She does everything for herself. I do just love her. At the very least this book is worth reading just to fall in love with Molly.
Honestly, this book was pretty good, yes rushed, but still enjoyable. If you can get a hold of a copy of this (they are kind of hard to find), I would read them. They are good.
4 out of 5
And once again, I am reminded that I need to continue reading this series lol. And I have suddenly become very aware of how much my style has changed! I hope that you don’t mind getting this little throwback review. There will be a new, current read, review going up tomorrow. But, out of curiously, have you read this book? What did you think about it? I never hear anyone talking about this series. I hope that you have enjoyed todays post and I will see you all again very soon.
