Book Review: The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater

Hey Guys!

It is time for my first book review of 2018! Whoop whoop! We are kicking off this year with a good one as well! The book that I am talking about today is The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater. Let’s do this shit!!!

My god I freaking love this series! This book was just as good as the first one, I loved every second of it! I am so glad that I decided to give this series a go.

I loved the storyline in this book. It was darker then it was in the first book and more complex. I listened to hours of it at a time and only felt like I had been listening for a few minutes. It was just that good. The story kept me gripped from the first page to the last. And if that isn’t the sign of a good book I don’t know what is. What I really enjoyed about this book was that it had a lot of magic in it and a lot of world building and character development. All of this really helped to bring the story forward and to stop it from stagnating. I will be honest, after the first book I wasn’t sure how it was going to move forward and not flat line. This was the best way to do it. it fleshed the world out that bit more and has made me even more interested to read the rest of the series.

Speaking of character development, I loved that we got to see more of the characters. The first book felt very much focused on Blue and Gangsey with Ronan, Adam and Noah as more kind of side characters. But in this book you saw them both pulled to the front and I really liked that. I really enjoyed learning more about these boys. It was really interesting finding out more about who they are. not only did it add to the story but it also helped to add to the dynamic of the group and make it feel that bit more genuine and real.

I will admit that there were a few moments that annoyed me in this book. For instance, a lot of the Kavinsky storyline felt a bit too much, but it did make the main storyline that bit more interesting. Some of his actions just really annoyed me. I also found myself a bit annoyed at the boys at times, mainly because they were all being stubborn and stupid and a bit belligerent, but in all fairness, they are teenage boys, what did I expect lol.

Overall I really enjoyed this book though. I am already itching to pick up the next book. I cannot wait to see where this series is going to go. This is fast becoming one of my all-time favourites.

star 4.54.5 out of 5

And there we go. My first review of the new year. Have you read this series yet? What do you think about it? I hope that you have enjoyed toady’s post and I will see you all again very soon.
