First Impressions: Body Shop Christmas Range

Hey Guys!

Welcome to day 11 and my second Christmas first impressions post. Today it is the turn of the Body Shop. So, let’s do this.

I am going to be 100% honest with you right now and admit that I haven’t brought any of the Body Shop Christmas range this year, purely because all three scents are ones from previous years. There is no brand new scent. This means that, technically, I have testing all three of them before. But I thought that I would still do a little first impressions post telling you what I think of each scent, so that if you are interested in them, you will have an idea about what they are all like. so, let’s do this. (for reference, I usually always buy at one of the Christmas scents and always in a hand cream)

Frosted Plum

This is my least favourite of the scents. I have never particularly liked this one, even though every one else seems to love it. I personally find it to be very meh. To me it doesn’t smell particularly plummy but it does smell like generic cosmetic products. You know that, artificial, non-descript scent. That is what this one smells like to me. Although, I think this may be a me thing since it is a fan favourite and everyone else seems to really love it. it isn’t unpleasant, it just isn’t my cup of tea. The scent does wear pretty well though. you can still smell it a long time after applying it.

Vanilla Chai

This is my favourite scent from the scents available. It is sweet but also spicy It kind of reminds me of PSL’s. The vanilla of this is very very sweet, it almost smells like cupcake frosting. But because this is vanilla Chai, it has a very spicy layer too it as well. This spice really defuses the sweetness and makes it far more wearable. I’ll be honest, the first time I smelt this, I was not sold on it, but the more I smelt it, the more it grew on me. Now I really like it, although I will admit that it does get a bit closing after a few days. Again, the scent lingers for quite a while, although it isn’t as over powering as the berry one. I really like this one. I had this scent in a hand cream last year and kept it in my work pocket. In fact, I still have a little bit of it left (I stopped using it after Christmas)

Frosted Berries

I am not a big fan of this scent. I am always a bit dubious when it comes to berry scented products. A lot of the time they are very synthetic and or overly sweet. This is kind of the case with this one, but I don’t mind that too much, there is just something about it that I don’t particularly like. it’s not unpleasant, I just don’t click with it personally, although I will admit, it does kind of smell a bit like Vimto. You know, the drink. It is a very sweet scent. Obviously, very fruity. I personally would have preferred it if it was spicier then sweet, it would have felt more Christmassy, but all right none the less. The scent does linger for quite a long time once you have used it, which is nice, although it can be a bit over powering.

And there we have it. I am a bit disappointed in the Body Shop this year. Usually they release at least one brand new Christmas scent, but this year it is all just old scents. And not even their best old scents. I kind of wish that if they were going to bring back old scents that they had brought back Glazed Apple because smelt amazing and was always selling out. but oh well. Hopefully next year their options will be better. What do you think about the range this year? I hope that you have enjoyed todays post and I will see you all again tomorrow.

    1. I know! It’s always lavender and lime or lavender and mint, never just lavender. The only place I have ever found that does lavender on its own is L’occitane, not sure if they do a spray, but might be worth a look 🙂 xx
