First Impressions: Nails Inc Nail Varnish

Hey Guys!

It’s time for a first impressions post! And this time it is another nail varnish! The nail varnish in question is from Nails Inc, so without further ado, let’s do this.

I have never really rated Nails Inc. I tried them as a young teen (my mum owned a few) and they were always a bit over priced and…well…crap. They used to apply badly, chip really easily, and so on. They just weren’t very good. So I have always avoided. Although over the last couple of years I have been hearing more and more good things about the brand and I have been considering getting one to test, see if it is as bad as I remember. Then a few weeks ago I picked up a copy of the book, My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella and received a free Nails Inc varnish with it so I decided to give it a go.

For those of you wondering why, Kinsella has realised a range of shades with them and they are all named after things to do with her books or something. There were about 5 different shades (most kind of horrific) so I chose Edward Place. This is a very pale grey colour. It is actually nearly the exact shade that I have painted my bedroom lol. The colour itself is very pretty. As I said it is a very light gray colour. It has purple undertones to it and is very wearable. Slightly lighter then I would usually go for, but considering it was free, I can’t complain.

And I am fairly impressed with how it wears. It lasted pretty well. I wore it for a good couple of days before it started to chip, although once it started to go, it really went. But, it wasn’t that much different to some other cheap varnishes I have. Much better than it used to be. It also dried a lot quicker then I remember. Which is nice because I hate having to sit there for hours waiting for my nails to dry.

My only issue with this was the amount of coats I needed. I think I had three coats on my nails before I got full coverage. I think I ended up with four on my thumbs. The problem is I don’t know if this is a general fault in the product, or because it is a light colour. I know the varnish does have a fairly watery consistency. But I honestly don’t know. I am torn between wanting to buy another shade to see if it is a one off, and not wanting to spend £13 on a nail varnish from a brand I am not massively fussed about.

I doubt that I will buy more of this brand, unless I can get it at a discounted price. The brand has definitely improved since I last tried them, but not enough to warrant the price tag. What do you think about nails Inc? any nail varnish brands that I should give a try? I hope that you have enjoyed todays post and I will see you all again soon.
