My Top Magic Books

Hey Guys!

Today I am doing my next instalment in my ‘Top Reads’ series. If you didn’t see the first one of these that I did last month, basically it is a recommendations post, with books that have a specific theme or a common idea or something of the likes. Today’s post is all about magic themed books. So, lets get down to it.

Harry Potter Series by J K Rowling

I am starting with the most obvious magic themed books. To this generation Harry Potter is the definition of magic. These books transport you to a whole new world. A world full of love, friendship and magic. They contain so many life lessons and fantastic characters. These books are just flat out incredible. They are fun, imaginative and so beautiful. You cannot help but love these books. No matter your age, these books will suck you into this incredible world and surround you with magic. If you have never read this series, you need to.

Half Bad Trillogy

Half Bad Trilogy by Sally Green

I fell completely in love with this trilogy as soon as I picked up Half Bad and I honestly couldn’t put them down. You follow a young boy as he navigates his way through the dangerous world in which he lives. A world of magic. These books are so addictively good and very different from what you would expect them to be. These books have so much going on in them. Love, death, torture, magic, family, drama and so much more. If you are over 18, read these books.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

This is a beautiful story about magic and love. Once you start this book, you wont want to put it down. The main story follows Celia and Marco, two magicians that have been bound to complete against each other in a game of magic. You follow them as they help to create β€˜Le Cirque Des Reves’, a magical circus that will fill your dreams, compete and fall in love. With beautiful writing, intriguing storylines and stunning characters, this is a book that you cant help but fall in love with. You will want to read it in one sitting.

Grave Witch

Grave Witch by Kalayna Price

This is definitely the most adult book on this list. In this book you follow Alex Craft, a twenty something Witch, with the ability to speak to the dead. This book is the first in a series and is brilliant. You cant help but fall in love with this world./ there is magic and drama, death and mystery, smut and hot guys, plus so much more. If that isn’t enough to pike your interest, one of the main characters in this book is Death himself, who is this tall, dark and handsome son of a bitch who you cannot help but fall a little bit in love with.

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

This book is essentially the YA equivalent of The Night Circus. It is beautiful, magical, imaginative and quiet dark. The story follows sisters Scarlet and Tella as they venture into the game of Caraval, looking for an escape from their abusive father and dead end lives. They are thrown into a world of deception, mystery, love and joy. This is one of those stories that you will instantly fall in love with. It will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time, you never know what way that it is going to twist next. You never know what is real, and what isn’t. I truly love this book.

Howls Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones

This is an incredible story about friendship, magic and love. You follow a young woman, called Sophie after she is cursed by an evil witch. You watch her as she makes friends and slowly falls in love, while trying to find where she belongs in this world. This is an lovely story about magic and self discovery that will leave you speechless. This is the first book in a trilogy and is the book that the Studio Ghibli film, so the same name, is based on. This lovely little book is well worth a read.

A Darker Shade Of Magic

A Darker Shade Of Magic by V E Schwab

This multi-verse trilogy puts a whole new spin on the magical universe. It is fast paced and dark, sexy and funny, and full of incredible characters. You follow a magician called Kell as he finds himself on a deadly adventure with an unlikely ally in the form of a young cut-throat called Lila. You cannot help but love this trilogy. It keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. This is one of the best magic based stories that I have read in a long time.

All of these books have magic as a big if not main theme in them. There are lots of books with just a little magic in them, such as Mortal Instruments and Sin Eaters Daughter, but because it isn’t a min theme, they aren’t being included. If you would like a post about books that contain magic, but it isn’t a main theme, let me know, and I will see what I can do. And along that line, are there any topics that you would like me to do these posts for. I have a list, but I am more then happy to do some requests. But anyway, I hope that you have enjoyed today’s post and I will see you all again very soon.
