Christmas Reads

Hey Guys!

Welcome to day 19 of Blogmas! Only a few more days. You cannot believe how excited I am getting. Anyway, as usual I am distracting myself, so lets get back to the matter on hand. If you have followed me for a while you will know that for each season throughout the year I make a series of posts, related to that season. For instance, summer photography, autumn candles, spring nails ect ect. And this year I started a new one, reads. The reason why I am telling you all this is because I have decided to do Christmas editions of these posts,. So, today, it is time for my Christmas reads.

All the books in this post are ones that I have been reading so far this festive period, or some of my all time favourite books for the season. All of the books are set at or around Christmas time. Basically they are all perfect books for this time of year, so, here are my Christmas reads.

My True Love Gave To Me by Various (Edited by Stephanie Perkins)

This is a beautiful YA anthology containing 12 short love stories all set over the festive period. There is a story for everyone in this anthology. Each story will leave you wanting more and make you feel super festive. What is brilliant about this is that every story is very different. You have Santa’s daughter, an adorable gay couple, Krumpus, a young arsonist, the cutest couple in existence and so much more. Also the stories are scattered over the whole festive period, some at Christmas, some at new years, some throughout the whole season. This is such a lovely book and such a brilliant way to discover new authors

A Boy Called Christmas by Matt Haig

This beautiful story will make you ‘believe in the impossible’. Have you ever wondered how Father Christmas became Father Christmas? Have you ever wondered who he was before? Or how he teamed up with elves? Then this is the book for you. This new festive classic will leave you speechless You follow young Nikolas as he undertakes a dangerous adventure to save his family, and ultimately, discover Christmas This book is absolutely stunning and will really put you in the festive feel. It has vibes similar to those of the first Harry Potter book and I can guarantee, you wont be able to put it down. This one is perfect for the whole family.

Girl Online by Zoe Sugg

This is the first book in the best selling Girl Online series. You follow teenager Penny as she leaves her home town of Brighton and flies to New York with her family for Christmas While there she meets young musician Noah Flynn and their blossoming friendship soon becomes something more. In this story of growing up and falling in love you cant help but love the characters. With deeper issues woven throughout the book, along with Christmas spirit, this book is bound to put you in the festive spirit (assuming you don’t accidentally read it in the summer like I did, -cough-)

Dash And Lily’s Book Of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan

if you are looking for a book that will make you smile, laugh and fall in love, then this is the one for you. The story revolves around two 16 year olds, Dash and Lily, who have never met, but share a lot in common. Set over the Christmas period, you watch as the pair communicate with each other through a little red notebook, filled with dares, and slowly fall for each other. I love this book. The characters are absolutely adorable, the story is incredible and several times I found myself laughing out loud on trains because of it.

The Twelve Days Of Dash And Lily by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan

This is the sequel to the last book, and it is nearly as good. Set at the following Christmas, you follow our favourite couple as they try to navigate their way through the festive season. With family issues, relationship troubles and general teenage uncertainty, Lily has well and truly lost her Christmas spirit and its up to Dash to help her find it again. This is a lovely little book and can work as a stand alone if you haven’t/don’t read the first.

What Light by Jay Asher

This little book is guaranteed to put you in the Christmas spirit. You follow 17 year old Sierra as she takes the annual month long trip to California to help her parents run their Christmas tree lot, but this year, things take an unexpected turn in the form of Caleb. This is a story of friendship, family and love. And most importantly, Christmas This story is so gripping and loveable and at only 300 pages, it is a very easy, quick read.

I’ll Be Home For Christmas by Various

This festive anthology is the perfect book for the season. Explore 14 short stories and poems, each written by a different UK, YA author Every tale in this book explores the theme of ‘home’ and what it means to different people. Each story is set at Christmas, and most have a secondary theme, crisis. Not only will this anthology put you in the festive spirit, but it will help a good cause. At least £1 from every sale of this book goes to the charity CRISIS. This is such a wonderful book with stories from Non Pratt, Holly Bourne, Juno Dawson and many more. It is the perfect book for the season, particularly if you don’t have the spare time to dedicate to full book.

and those are my Christmas reads. As you can see, there are quiet a few romance based books in here, generally speaking, the majority of Christmas themed books are romances. I don’t think that I have ever come across a supernatural based Christmas book, but oh well. A romance does kind of suit the season. What have you been reading so far this season? Anything that you would recommend? I would love to hear your views. I hope that you have liked today’s post and I will see you all again tomorrow.
